Death sanitised through credit
Annoy a band by refusing to give them a loan, get yourself immortalised by having a song written about how you’re all crap. Which is what Nat West blah blah essentially is.
Outside the catchy chorus, we’re treated to a bog-standard GT song that sounds even weaker than what it could possibly be because of the infamously poor production – sure, GT suffers from it as a whole but Nat West just sounds damn weak because it doesn’t have the memorable songwriting to back it up. Outside that ridiculously catchy chorus hook.
The band started to namecheck the song quite often during the 2009 interviews because of its lyrics and the recession that was/is going on. Oddly enough Wire seems to be proud of such a horribly bad lyric as “black horse apocalypse/death sanitised through credit”.
